All patients, regardless of mental health acuity or level of care, begin their psychiatric care by receiving a comprehensive evaluation by one of our psychiatric doctors. During an evaluation, Our Doctors walks each patient through the psychiatry process, to help them understand what medications are appropriate, as well as what other clinical services would benefit them. Our Doctors and the staff emphasize the importance of patient education, and patients who are educated about their treatment are more likely to continue with medication, therapy, and other treatment plan recommendations.

After the initial psychiatric evaluation, an individualized treatment plan is created in collaboration with the patient, taking into account patient safety, clinical effectiveness, and cost. The purpose of the evaluation is to determine the right course of treatment, whether it is continued psychiatry & psychopharmacology, group
or individual therapy, or one of the specialty treatments offered at our outpatient mental health clinic

Psychiatric Telemedicine

Finding psychiatric help for depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders in your area can be difficult. For patients with limited mobility, pre-existing health conditions, or those in more remote regions, accessing mental health services like psychiatry or therapy is often a challenge, especially given the unprecedented COVID-19 novel coronavirus crisis. Patients may transition to phone appointments for psychiatric follow-up and medication management, once they have received their initial psychiatric evaluation. Phone appointments allow patients to continue with their preferred psychiatrist or therapy, even if they are out of area or no longer able to easily leave their home.

The psychiatrists at DG Heath Travel & Associates utilize HIPAA compliant video conferencing software, to ensure patient security and confidentiality. Video telepsychiatry allows our patients to connect with one of our mental health professionals while remaining in the safety of their own home.
